Ramadan

What is Ramadan, and How Did it Become So Important?
Ramadan is an important Islamic month that is observed by Muslims worldwide. It is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and marks a period of fasting, prayer and reflection for Muslims. The name ‘Ramadan’ comes from the Arabic root word for ‘parched thirst’ and ‘sun-baked ground’, symbolizing the intense heat of this month. This month has become increasingly important in recent years due to its spiritual significance as well as its social implications. During Ramadan, Muslims observe a daily fast from dawn to sunset, abstain from all worldly pleasures and focus on their relationship with God. They also engage in charity work and spend time with their family and friends while celebrating this holy month.

During this month, Muslims abstain from food and drink from sunrise to sunset. Ramadan also includes prayer, charity work, and recitation of the Quran. The end of Ramadan is marked by a celebration called Eid al-Fitr, which includes feasting and exchanging gifts with family and friends. This special month has become increasingly important over time, as it serves as an opportunity for Muslims to connect more deeply with their faith and strengthen their relationship with God.
